Bug turns SIX!

Our sweet Bug turned six years old this past week. I, as usual on the girls’ birthdays, experience a wide range of emotions. There is a part of me that holds fiercely to moments like this:

(My First time holding Bug.)

Sometimes I really miss those baby days. As Bug gets older and more independent she needs her Mama less and less. There was a point in her early life when I was quite literally keeping her alive. Now I’m pretty sure, if left to her own devices, she would be able to survive on her own. It is so hard as a Mama to step back and let her bloom.

On the other hand, I look at her in moments like this:

What a cool six year old we have! She is incredibly witty and has a contagious giggle. She is one unique kid who doesn’t shy away from her big personality. She shamelessly loves Spider Man as much as she loves wearing frilly, girly dresses and skirts. She has a huge heart and a friendly personality. She remembers everyone’s name and makes sure that no one feels like a stranger. She is an incredible big sister. When she grows up she wants to be a Rock Star, President, Artist, and Explorer. She pretends like she doesn’t know how to read (and refuses to practice), but we catch her reading words all over the world around here all the time. If she could go anywhere in the world she would go to China (or maybe outer space). She is crazy about animals and asks me every single day for a cat. We simply love her and her never ending imagination to pieces. So as much as I miss being able to really hold her (she is starting to catch up with me in height!) and smell her sweet baby head it is pretty awesome to watch her grow up at the same time. Enough of the mushy stuff, though.

We had so much fun celebrating Bug turning six! In fact, we aren’t really even done yet! She still has a few gifts from grandparents to open!

The first part of her birthday celebration was a party with friends! It was seriously a blast and we were so glad that so many of our friends could come out and play with us for the afternoon! (And we missed those of you that couldn’t make it!)

Some of our good friends live a little further away and needed to head out before the party, but were sweet enough to spend the morning with us before the party!! It is always a blast to see them!

Happy Birthday to our favorite SIX year old!

Baby was in sugary, birthday heaven celebrating big sis!

Adventures with friends!

Opening her gifts! Thank you so much to our sweet friends who made her birthday extra special! You guys are the best!

Some of our friends who were at the party! It was extra special to see them all and get some play-time in after we were gone for so much of the summer! We have seriously been blessed with the best friends here!

On Bug’s actual birthday we spent the day at one of her favorite places — Playmobil Fun Park here in Germany! We have been about 4-5 times now and it has yet to get old.  You can catch up on those adventures HERE and HERE. Another perk is that a kid gets in free on their birthday. We have conveniently been there on Bug’s birthday for the past two years. It is just such a great, fun, imaginative place for kids. It wound up being a really hot day (95 degrees hot) and so we didn’t stay as long as we usually do, but it was still a lot of fun!

She requests this picture every single time! Silly girl!

Water play was a MUST on this hot day!

This has always been Baby’s favorite area of the park!

Queen for a day!

Another great birthday in the books! If you would like to see more from our time in Playmobil Fun Park you can view the entire photo album HERE. You can also view more of Bug’s birthday party HERE.

  1. Wish we all could have been there for the big day. Six years old – amazing. I may be a little prejudiced but I definitely agree with the way you described her. She is a joy, as are her sisters, and I really miss those precious girls.
